Short update

Okay, so here’s the deal on the stuff I mentioned a few days ago. The changes to the website won’t be as radical as I had planned. It’s not really that important what I had in mind. I’ll be experimenting a lot with new templates over the following weeks, so you’ll probably see the website change a few times. I’m also gonna give the static pages a major overhaul.

But there’s also bigger news. I’m cancelling Gridblaster II. I have talked a few times about small glitches and problems I thought wouldn’t be that hard to solve, but after lots of attempts they have proven to be much more troublesome than I could ever imagine. The main culprit is the grid-based movement system, wich turns out to be a huge pain in the ass. This is the reason I haven’t posted anything in ages. Rather than wasting any more time on this project I have decided to pull the plug and start something new.

The new game will share some similarities with Gridblaster, but it won’t have the grid-based movement, so obviously I can’t use the same name. Instead of the maze, it will feature large open arena-like levels with much more freedom of movement. At the moment I’m coding a prototype and doing some artwork. I’m also experimenting with a new method of drawing, wich will combine both vector and bitmap techniques.
